Event at UCL: The Limits of Competition Law in Latin America: A Conversation with Julián Peña

My colleague and friend Andrés Palacios told me about an event that will take place this Wednesday, June 19, in seminar room 8 of Bentham House, at University College London. The event «The Limits of Competition Law in Latin America: A Conversation with Julián Peña» starts at 6:00 pm and the entrance is free.

It is not the first time that Julián visits UCL to speak about Latin American competition law and policies and it seems it will be a very nice opportunity to check the pulse of what going on in this region in terms of competition law enforcement.

Below you will find additional information about the event:

«As Latin America continues to thrive amidst the global economic downturn, the quality of competition law regimes and industrial policies has been the subject of recent discussions and political activities. The increasing internationalisation of Latin American firms and shifting political scenarios are testing the adequacy of the competition law regimes in this region. The time is ripe for a thoughtful discussion about what Latin America has achieved so far and the changes to be implemented regarding the protection and promotion of competition.

Julian Peña, one of the leading experts in this topic, will join us for a conversation about the current state of competition law in Latin America. He will present his latest work «The Limits of Competition Law in Latin America», recently published in «The Global Limits of Competition Law» (Ioannis Lianos & Daniel Sokol, Eds.). This event is free from charge.»
